Mr Edward Yuan-Yi Hsieh

Chairman

Chairman Edward Yuan-Yi Hsieh is deeply attuned to global trends, with extensive experience across renewable energy markets in Japan, Australia, and the Philippines. In 2012, he and Jason Chou, now General Manager of HD Renewable Energy, travelled to Japan to explore the renewable energy sector. This experience inspired the founding of HD Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. in 2016 with a vision to become a “Smart Power Company” and promote “Smarter Energy, Accessible Green.” By 2022, HDRE pioneered Taiwan’s energy transition as the first energy company listed on the Innovation Board.

Edward holds a Master’s degree in Financial Entrepreneurship from Baruch College and brings a background in investments across the catering and cultural sectors, enriching his entrepreneurial experience and professional network. His bold vision, hands-on approach, and sincere communication style facilitated his first entrepreneurial success in Japan and sharpened his strategic instincts. Within a year of its Innovation Board listing, HDRE advanced to the TWSE General Board and was included in the MSCI Global Small Cap Index, marking strong financial performance and gaining recognition from the Taiwan Stock Exchange and investors worldwide.

Edward’s entrepreneurial philosophy is grounded in “giving back to society as the cornerstone of sustainable responsibility.” This ethos is evident in HDRE’s approach to sustainability: during an aquavoltaic project, HDRE proactively conducted independent environmental and social audits and engaged directly with local fishers to address concerns and develop collaborative solutions. Today, HDRE’s Qigu Riyun Project stands as a landmark in Taiwan’s aquavoltaic industry. Recognised for its commitment to sustainability, HDRE received numerous awards in 2023, including the Taiwan Sustainability Action Award, and in 2024, was honoured with dual accolades from the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA), securing its reputation for sustainability excellence on a global scale.
