Templers BESS

ZEBRE is developing the 111MW/330WWh battery energy storage system at Templers in South Australia. The Templers project is located on a 3-hectare area of cleared farming land on the corner of Templers Rd and Power Rd, to the east of the existing ElectraNet Templers West and Templers substations.

When operational, the project will provide enough electricity to power 96,000 South Australian homes and businesses.

The Templers Battery will enhance electricity reliability as South Australia leads the way toward 100% renewable energy by 2027.

During construction, the project has created 181 jobs and there will be up to four ongoing full-time positions created to support operations and to provide maintenance.

ZEBRE in the Community

ZEBRE is committed to forming long-term and mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders including the Light Regional Council to ensure our safe, smooth and successful construction process.
We acknowledge the Ngadjuri people as the Traditional Custodians of the land and have maintained ongoing discussions and engagement.

Status

All approvals and financial commitments are secured.

Construction of the Templers Battery Energy Storage project is nearing completion.

Energisation and commissioning has begun

Local business, Consolidated Power Projects (CPP), designed and is now building the project for ZEBRE, as well as being responsible for connecting the battery to the South Australian electricity network.

Timeline

We expect the project to take 17 months from start to finish.

We have been mindful of potential disruption to traffic on Templers Rd as works have progressed and try to minimise any delays. If you have been delayed, we are genuinely sorry that and do hope you can understand that it may have been unavoidable.

We anticipate construction works to continue through to May 2025, with testing and ramp-up of the facility during the first half of 2025. Full commercial operation is expected by Winter 2025.
