Hookey Creek Solar & Battery

ZEBRE is seeking to install a 100MW solar project and 200MW/4-8hr battery energy storage system next to the existing Woolooga Solar Farm, near Gympie in Lower Wonga, south-east Queensland.

The Hookey Creek solar and battery project will be able to provide the equivalent power for up to 50,000 QLD homes with renewable electricity for up to 8 continuous hours.

The project will contribute to supporting Queensland’s growth along the Sunshine Coast corridor, providing energy security for the state with energy produced in Queensland, for Queenslanders.

ZEBRE in the Community

ZEBRE is committed to delivering a Community Benefits Scheme that includes funding for local issues and prioritises the community, such as local procurement and employment. We are seeking community feedback to ensure the design and operation of the project reflects local needs.

Status

The project is in the early days of development. The development application is currently being prepared

ZEBRE is working with the local community to design the project with positive benefits and minimal impacts.

Timeline

Initial meetings have occurred with the Gympie Regional Council and Powerlink.

Following initial feedback from Powerlink, ZEBRE is preparing a grid connection application which involves detailed modelling of the solar farm and battery within the electricity network.

Powerlink has indicated that there is sufficient hosting capacity at the Woolooga substation for the Project to connect.

ZEBRE is engaging with neighbours, the community, Traditional Owners and other important local parties to ensure that the project is delivered in a way that provides meaningful benefits to the local area with minimal impact.
